All about Malcolm

Well Mallie finally got a job – ironically working at the Kalgoorlie Hospital as an Electrician!!!  He isn’t actually employed by the hospital, but by a company called Skilled who contract to the hospital.  This is his second week on the job – he was one ball of nerves last Monday on his first day – but so far he hasn’t managed to shut down the hospital, hasn’t stuffed up any of the dialysis machines, or blown up a generator!!  He is like a changed man though – the Mallie that we all know and love once again – best of all this week is his pay week, and a very good one it will be.  As he is employed by Skilled he is paid like a casual worker so a high flat rate per hour but no sick leave or annual leave accruing.  After 3 months he can switch over to being employed by the hospital if he wants to.  Here are some photos of the worker

The week he got this job he got rung about two others – typical!

It was also Mals birthday last Friday – yep he had to work on his birthday – tough ah LOL!!!

I took him out for dinner to the Balcony Restaurant which is on top of the Palace Hotel.  Its quite pricey but the food was well worth it and you got a good plate of food too.  We sat on the balcony on the right of the picture below

Lake Ballard – Shire of Menzies

We headed out to Lake Ballard today – took a couple of hours to get there.  Its a large salt lake – 10 square kilometres – which has 51 sculptures dotted around it.  The sculptures made up the ‘Inside Australia’ exhibition which was commissioned to mark the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Perth International Arts Festival in 2003.

It would be fantastic to photograph the sculptures at sunrise or sunset which would be okay if you were camping on site.  It seems to be set up for free camping as there was a toilet, some picnic seating and even a dump point for a cassette toilet!  We were the only ones there though today, and despite not having any shadows to make the photos really interesting we did get some good snaps…have a look…Mal climbed up the little hill and took the photos which show the panorama of the salt lake…you can click on the photos to make them bigger
