We headed out to Lake Ballard today – took a couple of hours to get there. Its a large salt lake – 10 square kilometres – which has 51 sculptures dotted around it. The sculptures made up the ‘Inside Australia’ exhibition which was commissioned to mark the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Perth International Arts Festival in 2003.
It would be fantastic to photograph the sculptures at sunrise or sunset which would be okay if you were camping on site. It seems to be set up for free camping as there was a toilet, some picnic seating and even a dump point for a cassette toilet! We were the only ones there though today, and despite not having any shadows to make the photos really interesting we did get some good snaps…have a look…Mal climbed up the little hill and took the photos which show the panorama of the salt lake…you can click on the photos to make them bigger
