We arrived back in Oz yesterday after spending a couple of weeks at the beach house in NZ following our holiday. It took a while to settle in to normal life again in NZ and get our little ole Chip back to his usual self - he had settled in to a new routine with his grandies quite quickly and become someone elses little lap dog - traitor!!!
The weather in NZ was a mixed bag over the couple of weeks we were there though the new fire we had installed before we headed over was lovely - if I could work out how to get paid well just bumming around the beach house I would be happy to stay there permanently I think as would Mal. Might have to start buying more lotto tickets!!
We caught up with friends and family before heading back to Oz - bored all the kids with our holiday photos and caught up with all the washing and cleaning and Mal even managed to finish off some building projects around the house.
We flew in to a beautiful day in Sydney (although chilly) and were picked up by lovely Marion who was so well organised for little Chips arrival - good ole customs/quarantine have renewed their systems since we last imported Chip and the process took twice as long as it did last time. It was so good to see the little cutie come out in his cage looking not to worse for wear and as usual he was wrapt to see us.
We then picked up the ute (thanks Marion for taking care of her so well) and headed out to pick up the caravan from storage. Was a bit weird to see it again - and I have to admit the confined space took me my surprise - will take a bit of getting used to again. Unfortunately it wasn't in as good a shape as when we dropped it off even though it was supposedly not moved while we were gone. A few things seemed out of place though and a couple of things broken which wasn't how we remember leaving it - I guess that will remain another mystery in life!
We parked up at the Wanderrest Travellers Park by the Richmond Club in Richmond for the night and had dinner with Marion and Grant - a really nice evening with delicious food - thanks guys for your company!
Last night was pretty cool and we have worked out that the little oil heater we brought to take the chill off the air at night isn't big enough to do the job. So we will be heater hunting today - Mildura (where we are heading) has quite a few frosts apparently and I am not going to be able to drag my ass out of bed to go to work if its cold!
Today is lovely and sunny (though a frosty start) - we will start our 1000km trek to Mildura .....
