We headed off from Yass this morning – without a shower as the water was frozen solid in the hose pipe thanks to a –6 degree temp! It was a bit weird and also lovely travelling along the Hume and Sturt Highways…one minute all fogged in, next minute beautiful clear skies…here are some piccies in sequence
The two highways were amazing to travel along though – mainly two laned all the way, seperated from the traffic in the other direction and hardly any other traffic at all.
We arrived in Wagga Wagga early afternoon – population of 60,000 odd – lovely city. I had been contemplating a contract here and part of me thinks we might have to end up here for awhile – the place has a lovely feel to it. We are staying in the caravan park by the only ‘beach’ here in Wagga Wagga…its next to the Murrimbidgee River and there is a sandy beach next to it…quite lovely really. Here are a few piccies – Chip is loving the sand..and even found a stick to bring ‘home’!
However, when we were in Goulburn earlier this year during the floods, Wagga Wagga feared much worse, and in fact this camp ground was mostly under water. Given that, they have done a fabulous job of cleaning up!
We got talking to a couple in a caravan next to us and ended up having drinks with them and another couple they knew who were here. Funnily enough we find out that not only is guy from the other couple an ex cop (so he and Mal got chatting), but the couples had met on a European River cruise last year – the same cruise we have just done!!! Isn’t it a small world!
We are getting on top of things tonight – not only do we know have a fabulous heater that is quiet and very efficient (who cares how much it costs to run) – thanks Mr Bunnings – but we have got on top of the washing situation and other bits and pieces that needed to be done on the caravan! We are staying here two nights so will go out sightseeing tomorrow and have a bit of a sleep in……
By the way, Chip did very well in his little soft sided cage….a bit of grizzling still coming in to Wagga Wagga as we slowed down but otherwise the perfect little dog….
