Tinny on the Murray

We hired a tinny from the caravan park today to have a look along the Murray.  The sun came out just as we hopped in but it was still a bit chilly with a cool wind.  We took Chip with us and we think he enjoyed it – it was his first time out on top of the water.

Here are some photos

We headed up to Lock 11 which skirts around the Weir so the boats can get from one side to the other – not the same scale of a lock that we saw in Europe but still not something we thought we would see on the Murray River

As we headed towards the weir we disturbed a number of pelicans that were sitting in the current from the weir

We then turned around and headed back past the campground and downstream to have a look – there are a few lovely houses along the river

Downstream we pulled to the side and stopped for a picnic lunch – unfortunately I had put a cold drink in the thermos instead of a coffee which would have been lovely!!

Chip kept wanting to jump in to the water at this stage – no way was I going to have a cold wet dog sitting on my lap on the way back!  He did really well in the tinny though…
