Thursday we had the choice to do a day trip from the boat to Heidelberg or stay on board till after lunch and do a walking tour of Aschaffenburg when we docked there. We decided to take it easy and do the latter.
Apparently the Heidelburg trip was awesome but we enjoyed our time 'out' from the crowds (and a sleep in).
Aschaffenburg's main attraction was the cast le on the hill which we only walked around as it was a public holiday, and also there was a replica of a roman villa on the hill which we weren't interested in seeing. We broke away from the group pretty quickly and took a walk around the main part of town. As it was a holiday all the shops were closed with just a few cafes and pubs open but no many people around at all.
It was a pleasant town but nothing like the quaint ones we have seen over recent days. We quickly found a pub with a pleasant out look to sit down and have a beer and a wine
Mal and I avoided the other passengers last night at dinner grabbing a table for two before the others arrived in the dining room....it was pleasant just to have our company for a change. Then a quiet night in the room afterwards (old must be rubbing off on us!).
