Passau Germany

We arrived in Passau (our first German stop) a little late yesterday as we got stuck in a lock ....the door would not go down to let us out again so an electrician needed to be called in to fix it...Mal offered but.....

Passau is a lovely quaint village (although it does have a population of 50,000 so not so small) - cobblestones all over and lovely old buildings.  We did the walking tour with a guide in the morning which ended up at a huge ornate church (yep another one) where there was an organ concert.  The organ has over 17,000 chimes on it....boy when they hit those keys it was very loud.  Infact you could see the audience literally jump several times as they were obviously dosing through the quieter music.

After the concert it was back to the ship for another delicious lunch then we chose to do the optional tour to a Bavarian Village in the Bavarian forest.  We stopped off on the way and got a magnificent view of Passau

The village was authentic although some of the buildings had been brought in from other areas...I guess it gave a good idea of what a village was like though.  Predominantly made out of wood taken from the Bavarian Forest and still in pretty good nick considering

After the tour round the village we had a beer and pretzel of course!

The pretzel was delicious with the sweet mustard sauce they gave us...

Then back to the ship for another delicious dinner and wine...we had white asparagus which was just yummy and local cheesecake......thank god we are making sure we are walking a lot otherwise I would be quickly outgrowing all my clothes....

We were going to go dancing again last night but stopped off at the room after dinner and never left...we are getting exhausted! which is rather sad given we are the youngest on the cruise....
