It took forever to get from Heathrow airport in to the city...the traffic was so slow but also its a pretty long way to go. We were surprised that there wasn't much security obvious - we had thought being so close to the olympic games that it might have been increased at the airport and around London but there was nothing visible to us.
We dropped our bags off at our Hotel (which is in Hyde Park...very nice area) and jumped on the double decker sight seeing hop on/hop bus. Was a bit chilly on top, but thats where you have to sit ah, and it took us about 4 hours to do a circuit around London. We daren't get off as the traffic was so slow in places that we thought we wouldn't actually make it all the way round in the first place. But we got to see all the sights that were on my mental list.
We walked through Kensington Gardens/Hyde Park to get back to the hotel which was lovely as the sun had come out (though still chilly) but there were lots of people there running etc.
For dinner we walked round to the local pub and had 'bangers and mash'.....quite yummy. And to top off our evening we came back to the hotel and what was on telly but - you guessed it Coro Street....god knows who they all were but we were rivetted...after all what else do you watch when your in the UK???
We join our bus tour tomorrow morning...we are a bit apprehensive about who is going to be on the tour (we are very 'Americaned' out)....fingers crossed its a good bunch anyway....
